waterproof hands and dog breath

I decided it was high time I sprayed my sporty coat with water repelling spray. The ThaiPrincess left some for us and I decided to use it.

Being ever so clever, I read the directions which said, "Shake can before use." I shook it, baby. Then it said, "Hold can 7-8 inches from object being sprayed." I did that, too, with my amazing skill and acuity regarding depth measurement. The directions from here on out said don't saturate the garment, don't spray it in your eye, don't put the can in the fire, the same old thing.

The can did not say, "Hold can vertically." At least I don't think it did. But here's a tip! This particular can leaks when tipped horizontally, as it would if you were spraying something spread out on the floor. Guess what I was doing! If you guessed that I was spraying my jacket on the floor, you'd have guessed right!

The spray and the liquid covered my left hand. Why I was using my left hand, I do not know, but I do know that my left hand is largely waterproofed. I don't know if that means it won't get dirty. Like if mud gets on my hand, will the dirt stick and the water go? I know the answers to these things, but I'm much more interested in the nonsensical possibilities.

As for the dog breath in the heading--I decided to clip the dogs' toe nails. They don't like it. Sprocket whines sometimes in this pathetic little voice and rolls those big, bulgy eyes up at me so I can see the whites of her eyes and I feel oh so sorry for her. Spring tenses up all her muscles so it's hard to move her foot. Then, once a toe nail is beginning to be clipped, she wrinkles her nose little bit.

Once the second nail is going, she wrinkles a bit more. I can get the first paw done without much damage. She's totally pissed when I do the second foot, though. By the last two toe nails, I have to pause (paws!) and rub her ears so she won't bite my hand to make me stop. She doesn't bite hard, she just wants to get away from me. I do understand that. The number of times people have bitten me to get away, I just can't count them.

This time, however, I had a secret weapon: a waterproof hand.

What do you think of that, Spring?!

Does it have any relevance to someone biting me? No! But it is a super power. Dogs and humans alike should be very impressed.
